The Reamstown Historical Society and Museum was founded and incorporated in 1981 as the Historic Preservation Trust of the Cocalico Area. In 2004 the name was officially changed to the current name to reflect the new mission of the Society.
The Society held its first public meeting on January 17, 2006. At this organizational meeting, we discussed the plans for the organization, its operations, structure, and mission. An organizational committee was formed that is currently working on the technical details of the Society, such as a revision of the By-Laws. The plans for the Society are progressing well.
Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Reamstown Community Center.
The second floor of the Reamstown Community Center has contained a library and museum for many years. It was previously run by the Ream Family Association. Now, the Ream Family Association is participating in the newly reorganized Reamstown Historical Society and Museum. Plans are underway for the two organizations to merge.
